Below is a link to an excellent post from Ian Boyd that breaks down what Art Briles at Baylor, Dino Babers at Syracuse, and now new offensive coordinator at Texas Sterlin Gilbert tries to accomplish every Saturday in the fall.
Oddly enough, Ian gives a perfect visual of the QB Choice you see in 06 with a tackle pulling.
That concept is abused to no end by Art Briles at Baylor and for good reason.
I think my favorite thing about this offense and its philosophy is that you only need players to be good at one or two things.
- You need WRs who can fly and catch
- RBs who run in and around the line
- OL, TE, and FBs that are maulers
- QBs that can throw deep and be accurate enough to throw to the sidelines.
Everything else is gravy.
Attack the safeties, attack the flats, and attack the line!
Find a way to do all three.
